This historic symbol invoking images of bustling families traveling in past times required a complete roofing renovation ... a task requiring the skill of an expert and knowledgeable Slater.
Removing, marking and properly storing the slate for replacement is a painstaking process. Since hip, valley and eave pieces were cut-to-fit during the initial installation; these pieces have to be marked as to their exact position as they are removed from each section.
Each portion of the roof is then stored separately to wait for it’s recycling. Note: When slate is stored, it is placed on end and then stacked.
McCreesh & Son replaced all of the metal works with copper. This included not only flashings and valleys but also the Yankee gutter that now spans all of the eave lengths.
The West Trenton Train Station is now restored to its former grandeur ... at the end of the day you can almost hear the whistle!
