The missing and broken slate tiles are readily visible in this photo of the outside of this building. Damage was also found inside the building where water damage was evident.
The slate was determined to be Delta slate and we were able to match the color and sizes exactly for replacement. This means our final finished product will not look patchy … or spotty … it will look exactly as it should!
(The ball-shaped gizmo next to the chimney is part of the lightning rod!)

The valleys needed complete *refurbishments. The slates were removed and stored while new copper flashing was installed. Copper insures the longevity of the installation. After the slates were replaced, the building was once again weatherproof!

The McCreesh crew felt a genuine satisfaction knowing their animal friends had a secure haven!

* A word about walking around on slate roofs (see photos), we do not suggest this as a practice for homeowners. It is dangerous especially when slate is wet. Also walking on either slate or clay tiles calls for a professional, otherwise the tiles may be damaged. In fact, repairmen can break tiles while fixing a chimney or painting trim around dormers. It’s a good idea to make sure that whoever goes onto your roof knows how to move about on the material!
