1899 Historic Police Station
Hundred-year-old big-city police stations make great historic sites, and Baltimore's got 'em - four to be exact! Built in 1899, the Northern District Police station served the community for over 100 years ... then the structure's maintenance needs began to exceed its budget, and the property was sold. Fortunately, the new owner - a private developer - understood the structure's potential for mixed commercial use, if restored to original condition.
The need for extensive repairs and reconditioning to the slate roof structures and trim resulted in a call to McCreesh and Son. The project called for removing all existing valley metal, and replacing any damaged wood decking throughout the structures.
Below: the damaged roof decking repaired, a craftsman begins re-installation of new custom-formed copper work. The project will take an estimated 18 months to restore all the buildings to original condition.
