The dull green, Straight Barrel Mission Clay tiles on this (circa 1889) building would simply be nearly irreplaceable today … notice the bugle hips, certainly a rarity. After much searching precious replacement tiles were obtained from The Tile Man and the rest were cautiously removed, sorted as to roof position, properly stacked and securely stored.
Then the decking was replaced and the rafters were rebuilt. When all underneath was secure, the tile was re-installed. The roof is once again exactly as it was meant to be … simply a magnificently preserved rooftop adorning a beautiful historic structure.
